Power of the Tongue
How we speak reveals a lot about ourselves – the country where we live, our job, our values, our purpose of life.
What does your tongue tell about you?
Over my many years of living and learning, I have discovered my tongue has the power to do 3 things:
1) If I allow it, it has the power to control me. The only practical advice I have on controlling my tongue is to THINK before I speak.
2) The tongue has the power to destroy, it can corrupt the whole person. Negativism breeds negativism. There are no limitations on what our tongues are capable of: Malice, Anger, Greed, Hurt, Lies, Resentment, Criticizing, Jealousy, Bitterness and the list just keeps growing. All the negative vices, somehow one way or another, will find their expression through our tongue.
So how do we control this dark side of our tongues? It starts with our hearts. What our heart is feeling is shown through our words. If we want our tongue to be right then our inner self/our hearts must be filled with God’s Love and Light, How does this happen? IT IS SO SIMPLE, it is all about our Free Will. All we have to do is invite our creator to be in our hearts and then quietly listen for his words. YOU WILL HEAR THEM!
3} The third power the tongue has is the ability to bless. Only God can control our tongues so we can bless, encourage and give blessing to others through our words. When we allow God to be in control of the words we use they are edifying, encouraging and uplifting.
For those of you who are seeking your own Spiritual Journey, there is an inspiring book I wish to share with those of you who are unfamiliar with Don Miguel Ruiz’s book “The Four Agreements”. The very first agreement states: Be Impeccable with your word! Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using your words to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the Power of your Word in the direction of Truth and Love.
The other three agreements are a must read and are just as powerful!

When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick email. Unfortunately, when typing her address, he mistyped a letter and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher’s wife whose husband had passed away only the day before.
When the grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream,
and fell to the floor in a dead faint.

Short Story - Author Unknown
An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made
to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?" "That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them." "For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
So, to all of you who have cracked pots, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!
